Preview: The Rust Showcase at Re:Search!

One of the last Re:Search Wednesdays (before the switch to Re:Search Thursdays) features a showcase from The Rust Music featuring 5AM Trio, MALAKAI, and LuSiD (late set) presented by Euphonic Conceptions & Cervantes’ on January 15, 2020.
The Rust Music is a growing blog, label, production company, and management agency based in New York City with a roster of artists including 5AM, Face Plant, Foxtail, MALAKAI, Maxfield, Smigonaut, TYGRIS, Shapesift, and Wessanders. They curate a mix series called Rusted Rhythms focusing on up-and-coming artists. As part of their mission, “The Rust Music was founded to be a one-stop shop for fans to discover and indulge in unrecognized or underground musical talent.”
Let’s take a closer look at The Rust artists (and associated acts) that will be in Denver for Re:Search Wednesday.
5AM Trio
Sam Andrus, also known as 5AM, is an eclectic producer based in Philadelphia. Smooth and sultry, his brand of bass is blended with jazz and soul to create a fusion of timeless sound. With a custom Ableton DJ setup and live keys, 5AM takes his audience on a one-of-a-kind journey every time he steps on stage. He has performed with names like Jade Cicada, Kursa, and Andreilien. When 5AM joins forces with ZONE Drums and TYGRIS, they become 5AM Trio. The upcoming Re:Search show will feature the trio along with the angelic Maya Elise on vocals.

MALAKAI
MALAKAI is the musical project of Brooklyn-based producer, Malakai Linden. By bridging the gap between analog and digital through incorporating sounds from acoustic instruments and blending it flawlessly with bass-driven beats, MALAKAI has created a unique and eclectic sound. He has shared the stage with artists like Emancipator, Kalya Scintilla, and Tipper.

LuSiD
LuSiD is the auditory offspring of St. Louis-based Dean McDonnell. LuSiD will be playing a vinyl set for Re:Search this Wednesday, however, he is known for his 100% live and improvised approach. LuSiD live loops to create songs in real time with a wide array of instruments including guitar, bass, and didgeridoo as well as vinyl scratching.
Having already released two albums on Spotify (Dancing Elf Machine and Portal Perception) earlier in 2019 plus EPs like Role Play and additional drops likes his Burning Man 2019 mix, we’ve had no shortage of new music to listen to from LuSiD.
