Re:Search Wednesday is likely the most well known weekly installation around the Denver area. Known for giving the lesser-known, experimental artists some time to shine as well as the artists at the top of their game. You never know what you might find at Re:Search. Popular artists like Kevin Donahue of Sunsquabi often use the platform to try new sounds and side-projects, like last week when Donahue took the stage as his alter-presence, Casual Commander.

This week, Supertask & potions of The Lab Group (music collective created with CharlestheFirst) took the stage at Cervantes: The Other Side to a crowd that felt to be even more than SOLD-OUT. The place was packed, and it happened fast as seemingly all of Denver’s bass loving fanbase turned up at exactly the same time, taking the house from casually social to shoulder-to-shoulder in what felt like 10 minutes. To my surprise, these guys were no secret and as I came to find out, it’s for good reason.

These guys took fans on a serious ride, but not before Re:Search resident Jordan Polovina wowed us with his friend and special guest Sera Tonin who produced a futuristic set with house and bass undertones to accompanied Polovina's freestyle lyrics and classical cello perfectly! They made a great duo and as always, Polovina and co. did their thing and then some, getting the crowd ready for the headline acts to come.

As for the fellas at The Lab Group, yea… they are seriously on another level. Words can’t really do justice to their far-out performance, but we’ve got you covered on the visual recap.

If you missed this week, you will want to be sure to catch next week as the vibe takes a housey, funky turn. Get ready for a legendary act in Orchard Lounge, who will take the stage at Cervantes main venue space, The Masterpiece Ballroom. These guys have been around the world and back, giving fans an always new experience and setting themselves apart from other club-style DJ’s. “They ALWAYS get after it” said PRUITT who’s providing direct support for the trio next week. “...I’ve seen them so many times and I’m so excited to be able to share the stage with those guys.”

Denver’s own PRUITT will open for OL and that wasn’t all he had to say when we caught up with him this week.

SV: Have you played Cervantes before? If so, what would you say defines the venue as a whole? Have you played RE:Search Wednesday before, and either way what would you say makes it such a staple in a town full of nightlife options?

PRUITT : “I've played Cervantes a couple of times and every time I swear I start getting butterflies days in advance --just being on that stage makes me thankful for what I've done in my career. Soooo many national acts have blessed that stage with talent.

Re:Search Wednesday is hands down the best night for local producers/djs to get a chance to play and showcase their talent for such an musically educated crowd. everyone deserves a shot! Big shout out to Dave Sheldon and Euphonic Conceptions for having me!”

SV: What are you planning on bringing to this set that's new or different? Any good reasons to give fans to show up early etc.?

PRUITT: “This set is going to be a bit deeper than usual but still a little funky with a side of disco. Also, you just miiiiiight hear a track from my upcoming EP! See you guys soon CHEERS!”
