Papadosio has easily become a household name in the experimental rock scene. Touring all over the country to headline iconic venues and festivals, this five-member band just doesn’t ever seem to quit, and we’re perfectly okay with that. With a new album under their belt, Content Coma, Papadosio has set out on a brand new tour and they're coming to the Mile High City. Join us this weekend, as they perform two nights of the alluring and high-energy jams we all crave. Two nights of 'Dosio is great but the show boasts incredible supporting acts as well. Don’t miss Autonomix and Erothyme on Friday night, and catch Cualli and Blossomn on Saturday. We were honored to chat with members of both Autonomix and Papadosio in advance of this weekend, to get a feel for what to expect from the doubleheader show and bring you a sneak peek into the minds of these inspiring musicians.

Denver based band, Autonomix, has gained an impressive amount of exposure and traction in their inaugural year. They have been hitting the stage and the studio hard, making huge strides for an up and coming band. With the release of their full-length album, Counter-Balance, earlier this year, they didn’t waste any time proving they have the talent and tenacity to become the next premier jam band. I spoke with their master of keys, Josh Nermon, about the success of the band and what it means to provide direct support for such a legendary band. “We knew that there was something special going on [with our music]...our mentality has always been, ‘the sky’s the limit’. Who’s to say that you can’t open up for Papadosio in a year as a band?” And we couldn’t agree more. The only thing missing for Autonomix is a savvy booking agent so they can progress to a more national scale, and they are currently looking for one! Otherwise, they have all the other ingredients a successful band would need. We’re talking talent, drive, passion, and enough stage presence to give anyone the inspiration to blast their tunes and catch their next show, any time they can.

Josh and I talked in length of the devotion each member of Autonomix has for music as well as the people that inspire and co-create with them daily. “We don’t connect with artists that do music for a trophy, we connect with artists that do it for a passion because they love it and that’s something that’s been able to translate in our music and our performances. We’re here, we don’t know if we’re gonna be able to play another show again...let’s have the most fun we’ve had in our entire lives.” These fellas know how to throw one hell of a party and will be the perfect way to warm up the crowd for the much anticipated Papadosio. They’ve also got a brand new line of merchandise you may be interested in and that full line can be found exclusively at the show. Other Autnomix merch can be located here.

I would say Papadosio falls into the category of passionate musicians who produce for the sake of creating and inspiring. In terms of the process of making music as a seasoned band, Sam Brouse explained to me that with the age of the band comes more creative freewill. “Over time you sort of are able to give people creative space, to really explore.” The fellow keyboardist goes on to say, “that’s really been a big thing for us, really trying to be true to what we’re hearing and feeling all the time, and that’s constantly changing because we’re constantly changing. I feel more comfortable now than I ever have writing whatever comes to my brain and trusting that.”

Not only are they changing as people, but the world around them is also changing. When describing the meaning behind the title track of Content Coma, Sam explains that the song reflects the frustrations and overwhelming feelings he had with the world around him. “It’s hard to explain how different things are now compared to how they were when we were growing up. Everything is changing so fast and there is constant stimulus from everywhere. At that time, I was feeling particularly overwhelmed by options and so many different opinions...that it was an expression of just how overwhelming it all is.”

Luckily for us, this Asheville based band never falls into much of a “content coma” and continues to put out new music for us all to enjoy. No newcomer to the music scene, they have been creating and touring for over a decade. They have performed everywhere from Red Rocks to The Caverns (see attached video) in Tennessee and love the unique vibes that each venue brings. The past few years have been filled with touring the country in a van and writing as they go. After this tour, they’re looking forward to slowing the pace a bit and focusing on having more time in the studio. Don’t fret, more time in the studio doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll stop performing. Although much of the focus will be on writing new music, the guys still plan on putting on shows but want to “make it unique and creative for everyone.”

When I asked Sam about how he feels about returning to Denver, he confessed, “Denver is an easy town, we feel really comfortable there...there’s so much love coming out of every direction.” The members are no strangers to the city, spending lots of time here on their own and always making sure that Colorado makes it on the list when touring. After this tour, they’ll be headed back to the Rocky Mountains come the new year for a small mountain run to perform in Aspen and Telluride and Sam admits to looking forward to a special mountain retreat.

After speaking with Sam and hearing the love and joy he finds from creating with his bandmates, we’re easily listing this show as the #SVshowoftheweek. And at the newly renovated Summit Music Hall, we can’t think of a better reason for you to join us!

You can still buy tickets here but get them quick because this week they are likely to sell out!

PAPADOSIO RELEASE “CATALYST” LIVE MUSIC VIDEO
FALL / WINTER TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED

Oct 15th, 2019 (Asheville, NC) - Today, dynamic progressive-rock and electro-synth quintet Papadosio are proud to announce the debut of their new live music video “Catalyst” - view it HERE. The single was performed for the first time at their sold out performance at the iconic underground cave-accessed attraction The Caverns, and the video was recorded in high definition using a five-angle multicam. In celebration of the release of “Catalyst,” Papadosio will kick off their fall tour later this week. A full list of tour dates is available below.

"Catalyst" takes the listener on an instrumental thrill-ride. The track climbs up and down chromatic scales combining electronic synth elements with unique time signatures and a heavy drum + bass beat. Coming in at just under nine minutes, the lengthy composition navigates through a series of builds and dips, delivering a complex yet catchy arrangement. The live music video captures the vital energy of the crowd as they were anxiously heeding the new sounds and craftsmanship of the five musicians at the performance. The natural acoustics of the venue and the intimacy of the show provided an organic quality that resulted in goosebumps and an appetite for more.

Papadosio will be performing "Catalyst" live at a city near you on their upcoming fall tour. The tour will kick off in Colorado this weekend with dates across the country into the New Year. A full list of dates is available below.
