Title: Further into the Night First Look: A New EP From Late Night Radio

SharedViews Editor: Grace Thomas

Late Night Radio is not letting this decade go without making some noise. Leading up to his incredible performance at Meow Wolf Dark Palace (which you can read about here), he released Vinyl Restoration Volumes 1-7 one day at a time on Spotify before dropping his brand new Volume 8. Plus, he’s currently on tour with some of the biggest electro soul names in the game including Daily Bread, Wax Future, and Artifakts. To top it off, he just released his new EP, Further Into the Night, which is a sequel to Far into the Night from 2013.

Late Night Radio, or Alex Medellin, blends electronic music with hip-hop, soul, gospel and funk to create a hypnotizing hybrid that vibes. The first single he shared with us off the new EP was “Dry Land”, a beat-bumping return to form. He followed that up with “Nostalgic”, a slowed-down sample-heavy soulful tune.

The new EP features three collabs with K+Lab, Brisco Jones, and Recess plus artwork by Michal Menert. “Further into the Night”, the title track, is a new twist on an old song, “Far into the Night”. With the same heartfelt samples, this new take more intentional with an emphasis on horns and synth work. This EP is rich with that dreamy, heart-opening music that has you looking at the moon and wondering, “what’s out there?”

Late Night Radio will be at Gem & Jam Festival in Tuczon, AZ next year. He also just announced a show with Star Kitchen that will feature his live band along with Recess - catch him in Boulder, CO at Fox Theatre on February 7, 2020. Get your tickets here.
