It started with a tweet: “album. finito.” Okay, so the new album was finished… but when was it going to be available? When Kaytranada let it slip at Intersect Festival that his sophomore album was dropping imminently. The excitement was palpable.
Louis Kevin Celestin was raised in Montreal, Quebec. He started DJing and producing in his early teen years. He introduced the world to Kaytranada in 2013, and the rest is history. His steady rise to prominence has been aided by his work with some top names like Anderson .Paak, Kendrick Lamar, and Vic Mensa. His debut album, 99.9% received critical acclaim upon its release in 2016, and we were all left wondering what the talented producer would do next.
After nearly four years of one-off singles and collaborations, Kaytranada’s sophomore album BUBBA was eagerly anticipated. It boasts an extensive collection of features with some of the hippest artists in the game including Kali Uchis, Masego, Mick Jenkins, and Pharrell Williams. The 17-track project propels forward Kaytranada’s eclectic style which includes hip-hop and R&B but also house and soul.
