The all:Lo Collective Takeover In Denver

Low fidelity, low frequency - this is the motto of the all:Lo Collective. A record label and artist collective based in Denver, all:Lo is comprised of TF Marz, Thought Process, Scarien, parkbreezy, and pheel. Blending lofi hip-hop and downtempo bass effortlessly, the group has made its mark on the scene in 2019, taking the music mecca of Denver by storm.

Since the beginning of the year, not a month went by that you couldn’t catch one of the all:Lo artists at The Black Box, the arguable headquarters of Denver’s underground music scene. They played a part in Alternate Productions’ one-year anniversary show and Angry Neighbor’s two-year. parkbreezy provided support for LUNICE, pheel. opened for Rumpistol (as part of Sub.mission’s Electronic Tuesdays), while Scarien provided direct support for the legendary J:KENZO. They also had a special all:Lo Collective Takeover in the Lounge of The Black Box.

As summer approached, the collective developed a stronger imprint on the scene with the introduction of The Brunch Box Series, a collection of daytime Sunday shows featuring good food and good music. With legendary artists like Phaeleh, Kursa, Lone Drum, and Mike Wallis headlining, all:Lo Collective was on the bill for every single event. Then as we entered the fall, they announced the all:Lo Collective Happy Hour in The Lounge of the Black Box EVERY Friday from 7:00pm - 9:00pm.

To close out the year, all:Lo delivered stellar performances at cHLL sMTH & Friends (a dreamy downtempo night at The Black Box), Thought Process absolutely CRUSHED his set opening for Detox Unit at Cervantes (read our recap here!), and the crew held down The Lounge for Slug Wife’s two-night New Year’s Eve run. Two collective members (Thought Process and pheel.) then headed immediately down to New Orleans for Swamp Ritual, a pre-party put on by Synchronasty and Cosmic Synergy for the Tipper run in New Orleans.

Let’s take a closer look at the artists that make up all:Lo collective.

TF Marz

Marley Schwartz is producer/DJ TF Marz. With an accessible sound influenced by reggae as well as r&b and hip hop, Marley curates a vibe that flows so well.

We recommend starting with his Lo.cate mix, a new monthly mix series from all:Lo.

Thought Process

Joe Rich is the mind behind Thought Process. In the single year since he’s been putting out music, he has opened for the likes of ill.Gates, Champagne Drip, Thiftworks, Kursa and Detox Unit. For that last one, he managed to get nearly the entirety of a sold-out show to his set which started at an early 9pm.

We recommend starting with his new Changing Seasons EP.

Scarien

Bright and forward thinking, Scarien’s music fits perfectly into all:Lo. Scarien is the musical offspring of Darrien Williamson.

We recommend starting with his one shot dub recording, Up Early.

parkbreezy

Parkbreezy is the alter ego of Parker Williams. With emotive beats and experimental sounds, parkbreezy rightfully has a place in all:Lo.

We recommend starting with his THERUSHHOUR mix for The Gradient Perspective.

pheel.

Originally from upstate NY, Phil Gallo is pheel. Phil is an integral part of the collective and a frequent collaborator (often putting out music or performing live with parkbreezy or Thought Process).

We recommend starting with his 2K EP.

all:Lo Collective

Collaboration amongst the collective is commonplace from their b2b sets to their mixes. Of particular note is the morning coffee mix series from parkbreezy and pheel. A delectable treat, each mix is perfect for Sunday mornings in bed. Slow, instrumental hip-hop vibes permeate these chill mixes. You’ll enter a dreamstate, never wishing to wake up.

A great way to get exposed to all:Lo as a whole is to listen to some of their compilation albums. Each album features the all:Lo artist collective as well as special guests. Their latest edition, volume 3, also includes additional artists such as Cnopes, Grymetyme, and Xenolinguist.

With a burgeoning fan base, the collective has created a public group on Facebook called the[all:Lo]board for their supporters to “give input on the vision, discuss events, post music, and stay up to date on our future endeavors.”

The Denver scene is often oversaturated with music, and it can be tough to differentiate yourself. But it’s a lot easier when you work together - whether it’s artists like all:Lo collaborating with each other or stellar venues like The Black Box providing a platform for up-and-coming artists. If 2019 has taught us anything, it’s that all:Lo Collective is here to stay. This is only the beginning, and the next decade will see them grow immeasurably.
