The weekend before Halloween is always crawling with fun events, inviting creative ensembles and vibrant dispositions. Sonic Blossom was no exception and despite there being such a wide array of things to do, the venues were packed out! Jumping back and forth from The Ballroom to The Other Side, I was like a musical chameleon that molded it’s dance moves to the current beat. A smash from start to finish; there were so many acts to see and even with hours to kill, it wasn’t enough to catch em all. Some incredible performances were headed by The Librarian, Jamie Janover, SpoonBill, Bluetech and DynoHunter. The teams at Sonic Bloom and Cervantes seriously cannot go wrong when putting together a show, or in this case a series of shows. Implementing the best equipment in sound and lighting, their unwavering dedication to high-quality production is always apparent.

Mindbeam Productions and Awaken The Night were both brought in to accentuate an outer-worldly atmosphere. I spoke with Jeff Bailie of Awaken The Night and he let me in on what makes them stand as a company, as well as how they have achieved such expeditious success. ATN got started less than half a year ago, four months to be exact, and has already risen to the pinnacle of Denver’s entertainment services. Bailie explained that their approach is about providing customization and fine-tuning every venue they are hired at. They find it very important to implement a delicate approach, allowing them to emphasize textures and nuances without altering the quality of sound.

“We have an inventory that allows us to fit any venue and show. At Awaken The Night, we know that great sound is an art. Every range of frequency is given its own job, ensuring all bases are covered and the highest quality possible is delivered.” -Jeff Bailie

It was a magical night watching people got lost in the black hole that is electronic/jam music. That is to mean, these genres are so well received because of the seemingly endless possibilities of sounds and combinations to experiment with. Sonic Blossom was a melting pot of artists, musicians, and visitors alike. There were local acts, as well as people who traveled far and wide just for the event; trekking across states and as far as overseas. If you attended Sonic Blossom and didn’t get enough to satiate your craving for good music and free-flowing festival-like culture, check out Sonic Bloom. Sonic Bloom is the 4-day extended version of Sonic Blossom and 2020 is already shaping up to be a knockout weekend.
