Shpongle Droid Lands In Denver This Friday - Preview Here And Win Tickets

This weekend brings another highly anticipated event to Denver’s doorstep. Wedged nicely between Thanksgiving and Christmas, Shpongle aka Simon Posford, will bring his signature flavor along with the visuals of Android Jones and he’ll have one hell of a supporting cast at the Fillmore Auditorium. He’ll continue what’s been an 8-part tour in conjunction with Euphonic Conceptions, where he’s visited the likes of New Orleans, San Francisco, and soon to be New York. Tickets are still available but who knows for how long so jump on them now.

Euphonic Conceptions Marketing Director, Josh Nermon, told us how a good chunk of the excitement is for the two opening acts in Desert Dwellers and Goopsteppa. The Desert Dwellers, known for their earthy and eclectic, deep-bass, have developed a bit of a cult following of their own. This year, they’ve officially spent 20 years together as a duo, and they have a Beatport #1 selling electronica album to celebrate. Breath is available now and “features more than 20 musicians and vocalists over a 10-track nomadic journey.”

Known for more than just the music, Shpongle integrates all forms of art into his performances, and he isn’t the only one performing, not by a long shot. Check out this list of performing live painters you can expect to see Friday night. We spoke a bit to a known crowd favorite, Laura McGowan, about what it means to her as an artist to have this experience.

“I nerd out so hard around Shpongle hahaha.

I wrote a college paper on Shpongle about how their first album mimicked an eclipse in India- the way they used sound to create a visual experience. This was before I made art and now I get to paint for them and have my own visual experience with their sound. It’s beyond a blessing for me! Seriously, it’s a dream

Their music takes you on a journey and in a way provides viewers an opportunity to see our personal experiences ...also I have a piece I named after Shpongle and have done three.”
