Jakattak X Pitta Patta Making WAVES in Fort Collins Area!

North of the nation’s bass-music capital, Denver, lies a quaint family/college town you might have heard of. Known better for it’s college campus, craft beer, and IMHO a specific hot-chicken sandwich (damn straight I said it), Fort Collins has a pretty bad-ass music scene of its own we think you should know about! If you’re a fan, you may already know A-list names like Pretty Lights, and Michal Menert who were produced by this quaint little town. If you follow our bi-weekly mixtape session releases, then you’ve probably heard and read about other FoCo artists like ELCTRX and Eschaton who are both quickly on the rise as well. I guess “Fort Fun” has a certain energy to it that seems to breed great music! This week our attention was stolen by yet another Ft. Collins local act putting out a ton of great original music. In fact, they had a pretty stellar week all around as it would turn out.

We shot north an hour from Denver to catch Hodi’s Half Notes’ weekly staple, Re:Turn Tuesday. This time headlined by the power bass duo of Jakattak X Pitta Patta for their first time as a main stage act! Having released a brand new EP together this very same week, we couldn’t resist the urge to go be apart of the fun and festivities!

With an artist bill consisting of only locals of sorts, the evening started out with an already special vibe. Providing direct support, Rave Booty mixed up a variety of bass-centric, booty-shakin' favorites with a bit of her own flare. Before her, B34N5 and Bee Virus warmed things up with some experimental, electronic goodness of their own. But the night and the week were about Jakattak [High Voltage Collective] & Pitta Patta [Longevity Productions]. The crowd filled in early, full of excitement and love for their friends and peers about to take the stage.

Like the EP delivered before it, the b2b set was comprised of just the right amount of each artist. Dark Tides is a 5-track EP including one remix from BANkaji. Listening and watching these two perform, give you a sense of what making music is all about. You can absolutely tell from the smiles on their faces on stage, that this is what they want to be doing! The smiles on the faces of the crowd, definitely what they are doing it for!

We highly recommend checking out these up & comers and if you’re ever in the northern Colorado area at all, be sure to check out what’s going on around town. I can guarantee you’ll be on time to see some sort of amazing acts, one way or another! Follow Longevity Productions for more great gigs around town and for potential booking information on certain artists. We hope you enjoy the new EP from these two cats, available for listening right here or on Soundcloud!
